Live the dream

Richmond

1970 VW Beetle

Richmond Suspension / Brakes
At one point I was going down the air-ride road for the suspension, but this proved impractical and so the Beetle was just enhanced by lowering it and adding better shocks and brakes.

The wheels are four-spoke 4.5" x 15" 4-130 four stud BRM alloys, the rear tyres are marginally bigger at the back to give a better stance.

 Suspension
The front had adjustable, red powder-coated Spax shock absorbers and coil-over shocks at the rear.

The Beetle has been lowered with drop-spindles at the front and a subtal lowering at the rear.
 Brakes
Tarox discs and 6-pot calipers have been added to all four wheels to give a solid braking system.

A high performance master cylinder and braided, Tarox-recommended barke hoses have also been used.
 Other
To give a smoother ride the rear suspension is now on the springs from the coil-over shocks, instead of the torsion bar.

An anti-roll bar has been fitted at the front to help with cornering etc.
